Deciding Which Brands to Stock in your Pet Shop

Posted on March 31, 2018 at 8:45 am

A pet shop needs to be careful about stocking the right brands, so that there is both demand, and the opportunity for the pet shop owner to make a decent profit. If you would like to get a good amount of money for your business, this means stocking the right brands.

Here are some tips for making your decision:

  • If you are going to stock a range of brands, don’t make the range¬†too¬†extensive. If people have a lot of choice, there will be products that don’t get bought and will go past their use by dates.
  • Monitor stock carefully. You will need to keep a close eye on stock control and the amount of product you have in your warehouse. Rotate it regularly so you know what you have.
  • Look for discounts. Work with manufacturers over time and build up good working relationships to secure good deals. Many will be happy to give you bulk buying discounts if you are a good customer.
